Google to tie up with Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi for Vehicle Infotainment System

Renault, Nissan, Mitsubishi along with Google declared a technology partnership which will have Android Operating System embedded in the Vehicles for various applications. This will positively accelerate the growth of the cars and expand the automotive industry.
Global: Google along with Renault-Nissan and Mitsubishi announced that they have technologically partnered to come up with an operating system using Android which will be embedded in the vehicles that will be sold by the leading global automotive alliance. In this partnership which is expected to start from 2021, the members of the alliance will be utilising Android in various markets to provide intelligent infotainment and focussed-applications towards customers across multiple brands and models of the cars. This will accelerate the sales of the cars which will increase the market share of the brands leading to the growth of the automotive industry as well in the years to come. The alliance said that drivers along with the passengers will be able to leverage on the capabilities of Google and Android to have an access to an ecosystem that will include thousands of applications that exists and an ever escalating array of new apps too. The system will also be attuned with devices that run other operating systems, such as iOS from Apple. Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Senior VP of Business Development Hadi Zablit said, "Our partnership with Google will offer owners of our vehicles rich user experiences that are available only outside the vehicle or, to a limited extent, by connecting an Android device to supported vehicles," He further added "We are building powerful connected and seamless on-board/off-board experiences into our vehicles in addition to the features of Google applications and services that many users are accustomed to, including Google maps, Google assistant and the Google play store." According to the market insights of BlueWeave Consulting, the alliance will have a positive impact since Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi and Google share a common vision that they want to deliver intelligent as well as safe and seamless car experience with various apps and services which are familiar and can be upgraded and connected. Google’s applications and services will be used in infotainment and cloud based systems so that the experiences of the customers using Renault, Nissan and Mitsubishi brands are enhanced. They are targeting increased sales of over 14 million units every year by 2022. This partnership regarding infotainment by the alliance is a part of their 2022 mid-term plan. This technology will allow the customers with better and richer on-board as well as off-board experiences which no other brand or alliance are or have offered. Thus, this will accelerate the growth of car sales globally and also impact the whole of automotive industry positively.
