Mahou, the Spanish major enters Bengaluru with Wheat Beer

Mahou India is entering the Indian market with wheat beer in Bengaluru which is expected to boost the craft beer market in India and escalate its growth.
India: Mahou India, which is the first subsidiary of the Spanish brewing major Mahou Group outside of Spain, has entered Bengaluru. The entry into the Indian market marks the launch of their beer portfolio that includes Belgian beer in the category of wheat and lager. This is expected to surge the growth of the craft beer market in the country. BeerFernando Bustamante, CEO of Mahou India that is headquartered in Gurugram (Haryana) said, “We are thrilled to expand our presence to the beer lovers city of India i.e. Bengaluru. Our premium lager beers – Mahou 5 Star and Mahou Clásica have received a great response since their launch in the last three years in other parts of India and we are delighted to launch these products for the city. This is the first wheat beer in India that comes with a pull-off cap in its pint bottle. Bengaluru, a city known for its beer culture, is a significant market for us.” According to BlueWeave Consulting, Mahou India is a fully owned subsidiary of Mahou Group. Mahou Group is a Spanish-owned family company and the market leader in Spain with 34% of production share. The history of the firm dates back to more than 128 years, which began with the birth of Mahou in 1890. India is the first country where the Mahou Group has a fully owned subsidiary outside of Spain. The brewery of the company is located in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan. The group first entered the Indian market in August 2012. India is a developing economy and with rising disposable income people are willing to spend extra money on premium quality of beverages. Thus, with the introduction of Mahou to the Indian market, the craft beer market in the country will grow speedily escalating the growth of the market.
