The global hydrogen generation market was valued USD 143.9 billion in 2021 and is further projected to reach USD 249.3 billion by 2028. Hydrogen, or H2, is a combustible and odorless gas that can be found in many forms in nature. The chemical element is commonly found in the atmosphere in a gaseous state and can also be created due to several processes.

Today, fossil fuels are used to produce the vast majority of hydrogen.   • March 2022: Getech, the net zero technology provider and data-driven energy asset developer, announced that H2 Green Limited ("H2 Green") has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (the "MoU") with the Highland Council incorporated under the local government of Scotland (the "Highland Council H2 Green is a Getech company dedicated to the development and operation of green hydrogen hub infrastructure. The Highland Council and H2 Green have come up with a plan to build a regional network of green hydrogen hubs throughout the Scottish Highlands.   • January 2021: Engie, a French utility firm, is interested in partnering in green hydrogen projects in Saudi Arabia and Oman, as part of a strategy to create at least 2 GW of such projects in the UAE and overseas with Masdar, an Abu Dhabi-based renewables company, by 2030. Engie wants to build a green hydrogen center in the UAE and maybe other locations under a $5 billion agreement inked with Masdar in 2021, with the first 200 MW green hydrogen and ammonia plant being created in Abu Dhabi.
