Report Overview

Global Diagnostic Medical Imaging Market: Overview

Diagnostic imaging also known as medical imaging refers to the technique of generating visual representations of the internal body to diagnose a patient. Lower amounts of Electromagnetic radiation help to produce highly detailed images of the inside body. The detailed images created by these processes are used to further treatment of the patient and help to analyze physician about the anatomic structure and functional working of the internal organs. Diagnostic imaging is used in the field of medicine to recognize a wide range of medical problems such as damaged bones, heart conditions, blood globs, and intestinal conditions. Additionally, Diagnostic radiology can also monitor diseases such as colon cancer and breast cancer.

Diagnostic imaging includes Computed Tomography (CT) Scanners, X-ray Imaging Systems, MRI Systems, Ultrasound Imaging Systems, Nuclear Imaging Systems, and Mammography Systems. CT scanner Uses X-ray tools to generate a series of cross-sectional images of the body. It is often used when the doctor requires highly detailed images to study and diagnose the source of a problem, particularly on soft tissue. X-ray Machine Uses X-rays, a kind of electromagnetic radiation, to generate images of the internal parts of the body without making any incisions. MRI Machine uses a magnetic field in place of radiation to create images of the interior parts of the body.

It is used to study for those parts of the body where CT scanners cannot generate sharp images. Ultrasound also known as Sonography, uses high-frequency sound waves to check inside the body. Ultrasound images are produced in real-time, they can also display the movement of the body's inner structures as well as blood circulation over the blood vessels. Unlike X-ray imaging, there is no ionizing radiation exposure allied with ultrasound imaging. Nuclear imaging uses small quantities of radioactive substances to identify, assess or treat a range of diseases such as cancer, tumors, etc. Nuclear imaging has the potential to detect infection in its initial stages. Mammography uses a low amount of X-rays to generate the images of inside the breasts.

Global Diagnostic Medical Imaging Market forecast and Trends

Global Diagnostic Medical Imaging Market is significantly growing in recent years with a CAGR of 4.95%, in value terms, over the forecast period 2019 2025, and expected to reach at USD 40653.32 Million by 2025. Rising incidence of chronic illnesses, such as cancer and cardiovascular events, escalation in the geriatric population, and improvements in technologies to grow numerous diagnostic imaging tools to be used in various medical processes are significant factors that are projected to boost the market over the forecast period.

Growth drivers

Increasing Rate of Chronic Diseases

Chronic diseases such as, cancer, cardiovascular (heart) disease, arthritis, asthma depression and diabetes are rising across the globe with higher rate. Diagnostic imaging systems help to identify such conditions at earlier stages.
